Elementary Teachers’ Union plans one-day strike

Classes could be cancelled for students in kindergarten to grade eight on Wednesday. The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is holding another one-day strike if an agreement is not reached with the province.

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) will be impacted by this week’s strike. The board says there will be no classes or transportation for elementary students, including students in grades seven and eight that attend a secondary school or specialized programs. The UCDSB noted classes will resume on Thursday.

Parents are being encouraged to make alternative child care arrangements. Classes and transportation for students in grades nine to 12 will not be impacted.

ETFO represents 83,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals across the province.
