Cory M. Coons named Adult Contemporary Artist of The Year

A local singer-songwriter was honoured by the International Music and Entertainment Association (IMEA). Cory M. Coons was named Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year for his album The Long Road Home. He also took home Song of the Year for his single Would You Stay, which was up for a Josie Music Award last year.

The 6th annual IMEA awards ceremony is being held in Kentucky in June.

Coons, who lives in South Mountain with his family, says its a real honour to be recognized by his peers in the industry. This is his first time winning an IMEA award.

Coons noted music has been a part of his life since the age of 13. His journey as a professional musician started in the early ‘90s touring with cover bands in Eastern Ontario. Coons has been producing original music for 20 years, releasing his first solo album titled ‘From The Ground Up’ in 2004. He worked with multi-platinum record producer Ron Nevison on the The Long Road Home.

Coons is performing at Lock 17 Bistro on February 1, starting at 7:00pm. For more information about Coons or to check out his music, click here
