OPP take part in cross-border traffic safety initiative April 18

On Friday, April 18th, the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Traffic Teams and participating detachments will conduct a highly visible traffic safety enforcement initiative along the Highway 401 corridor from the Quebec border through to Gananoque that will be simultaneously mirrored by the New York State Police, Vermont State Police, Maine State Police, New Hampshire State Police and the Sûreté du Québec. At 10am on Good Friday, members of the OPP and NYSP, between the Canadian and United States Customs, at the Thousand Islands Bridge, on the border, will make a statement to emphasize the shared goal of safe roadways regardless of jurisdictions. Officers will be concentrating on the offences that result in the greatest contribution to serious and sometimes fatal collisions, with particular attention to Impaired Driving, Aggressive Driving, Distracted Driving and Improper Seat Belt Use. This holiday weekend, drive safe, be prepared and report aggressive driving. Help keep our roads safe!
