Sparks send Christmas cards to troops overseas

The Kemptville Sparks are getting into the holiday spirit. The group made 20 Christmas cards for Canadian Armed Forces members on Wednesday night.

Leader Melissa Button says the Sparks had a discussion about what made Christmas so great and the girls said the most important part is being with family. She noted the conversation veered into the sacrifices made by troops, who don’t get to be home for the holidays.

Button noted the girls, who are aged five and six, were really excited about making the cards. She says this is the first time the Sparks have done this and it won’t be the last.

Botton explained the cards are being sent out all over the world, including Baghdad, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Kosovo and Sudan. She noted the messages were heartfelt. Button says the girls wrote things like ‘Stay Safe Please’ and ‘Nice Work at Your Job.’
