UCDSB: "the cenotaph stays in Old Town Kemptville"

If you want to get locals excited, start talking about moving their war memorial to another location. A suggestion has been made that the cenotaph be moved to Veteran’s Way in The Ferguson Forest Centre, where it would join a replica Howitzer and other memorial plaques.

Deputy Mayor Ken Finnerty says he understands the statue of the soldier is fine to stay right where it is.


The cenotaph currently stands on the front lawn of the old North Grenville District High School. Peter Bosch of the Upper Canada District School Board has confirmed, it will be included in an easement to the Municipality in any future sale. Photo: Total Move Management
