73’s raise $700 for breast cancer research

Local hockey players donned pink jerseys for a cause. The Kemptville 73’s held its annual Pink the Rink event last week, during a game against the Smiths Falls Bears.

Proceeds from ticket sales and the 50/50 went to breast cancer research. Pink the Rink brought in $700 this year.

Jason York, co-owner and coach, says it’s important for players to give back. He noted it’s good for them to be involved with community initiatives because it teaches them leadership and how to be good citizens.

York explained Pink the Rink is about raising awareness, as well as funds. He says cancer is something that touches everyone.
