Other winners in the opening round included Ottawa’s Erin Morrissey, the Carleton University team skipped by Breanne Meakin, Cathy Auld from Mississauga, Sweden’s Jonna McManus, and Newfoundland’s Marie Christianson. Morrissey won easily in her second game against Jonna McManus and Meakin won the game of the day, defeating Julie Hastings 7-6 in an extra end. Morrissey and Meakin will meet at 2:30 Friday. The winner will be the first team to qualify for Championship Sunday.
