Victim Services Leeds & Grenville is putting out a call for crisis response volunteers. Training sessions are being held on September 21 and October 5 in Prescott. People who are interested can fill out an application form online.
Executive Director Sonya Jodoin says volunteers must be at least 18 and commit to three shifts per month. Jodoin noted you need to have a driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle because Victim Services covers all of Leeds and Grenville.
The process includes an initial interview, training and exit interview to ensure psychological fitness. A clean police check is also required.
Jodoin says the goal is to recruit 10 new volunteers. She explained the majority of what volunteers are utilized for are crisis calls, ranging from fires to domestic assault.
