Car Show nets $3,542 for local food banks

The 5th annual Winchester BMR Car Show crushed its fundraising goal. The event, in support of the House of Lazarus (HOL) and Community Food Share, was held on August 11. A total of $3,542 was raised for the two food banks, which will be split down the middle. Attendees also donated nearly 500 pounds of food.

Owner Ken Boje says it was the best year yet. He noted the car show averages around $2,500. Boje explained the online auction, which brought in $1,500, made a big difference.

The event also included a barbecue, yard sale and raffle.

Boje says the success of the car show is owing to support from the community. He noted the Highway 43 Car Club has done a fantastic job over the years helping BMR with the event.
