Local woman asks thieves to return 50-year-old jade tree

Mary Ann Whitehorne just wants her jade tree back. The plant, which she started in the ‘70s, was stolen from her front porch on Clothier Street West sometime Monday night.

It measures four feet by four feet, weighs around 50 pounds and was in a clay pot. Whitehorne says it has sentimental value. She noted she’s taken it from Whitehorse to Victoria, and then Ottawa and North Gower before settling in Kemptville 19 years ago.

This is the first time Whithorne has been robbed. She says there were more valuable items on the porch and she doesn’t understand why anyone would steal a plant.

Whitehorne says if the person(s) who took it brings it back and leaves it on the porch, that will be the end of the matter.
