Inductees announced for 2019 Kemptville & District Sports Hall of Fame

Some new faces will be inducted into the Kemptville & District Sports Hall of Fame this year.

The induction ceremony will happen on September 26th at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, beginning at seven that evening. Co-Chair Doug Rigby says this year’s inductees include two athletes, Amy Pitchers and Stephanie Glandon. The 2017 FTSA U16 Girls soccer team and builder Donna Burley will also be inducted. The 2018-2019 Kemptville Panthers Atom B hockey team are the Team of the Year and Sports Person of the Year is Owen Henry.

Rigby says it’s important to recognize the local sports community and over the last couple years is when they’ve introduced the Team of the Year and Sports Person of the Year.

“We just ask you to tell us what you did, your team or you as an individual, for the past year. It could be maybe your team didn’t win a game but you raised five thousand dollars for charity.”

According to Rigby, all of the inductees are displayed on a television screen in the municipal centre as well as on the hall of fame’s website.

Admission is free to the event. To cover costs of the ceremony there is a fundraising golf tournament which is happening on September sixth at the eQuinelle Golf Club. Rigby says they are also trying to raise money for an interactive kiosk. Spots are still open for the tournament and anyone looking to register for a spot can do so at the hall of fame’s website here. Registration deadline is Friday, August 30th.
