Lemonade stand brings in money for South Branch

South Branch Elementary School benefitted from the efforts of a young entrepreneur. Russell Riggs, assisted by his little sister Ellery, set up a lemonade stand yesterday. The 8-year-old sold lemonade for 50 cents a cup and raised $42. All the money will go towards a new play structure at South Branch.

Riggs says he chose to do it because he wanted to help his school.

But he’s not stopping there. Riggs already has plans to raise money for other charities, including the Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie. He has been going there for treatment since he was 16-months-old.

Riggs says he’ll have his lemonade stand open on different days throughout the summer, all in support of charity. Keep your eyes peeled for his sign at 30 Harmony Way, just off River Road.
