KYC puts out call for books

The Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) is looking for donations. The annual Book Fair is coming up at the end of August. People can drop-off books on Tuesday nights this month, between 6:30 and 8:00pm, at the Ferguson Forest Centre. Volunteers will be on site sorting.

Director Lisha Elliston says the KYC makes a real difference. She noted she was chatting with a youth who uses the centre during the recent Pancakes in the Parking Lot event. Elliston asked the youth why they loved the KYC and she couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

She explained the youth listed all the programs and services offered by the organization and it was a meaningful moment.

All the money from the Book Fair, which runs from August 23 to 25, goes directly to the KYC. Last year’s Book Fair brought in around $10,000.

Volunteers are also needed to help sort the books. To help out, contact the KYC directly by calling 613-258-5212.
