Free Birds of Prey show happening at Ferguson Forest Centre

The Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre is putting on a free show. The fourth annual Birds of Prey demonstration is set for Saturday. Showtimes are 10:00am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome.

The Canadian Raptor Conservancy will be on site showing off five birds of prey. Last year’s star was a Golden Eagle.

Chair Liza Duhaime says it’s important to offer free education to the public. She noted everyone should have the opportunity to learn about the environment, nature and how to protect it.

Over 900 people attended the Birds of Prey show last year. The event is being held in the arboretum and there will be signs up directing people where to go.

Duhaime asks people to leave their dogs at home if they plan on coming. She says if dogs are on site, they won’t fly the birds.

The demonstration will include natural history, size, eating habits and flight patterns of the birds. People will have a chance to ask questions following the show. For more information about the Raptor Conservancy, click here.
