Nik Hastings is heading to the Ontario Science Centre Science School in the fall. The grade 11 student at North Grenville District High School is one of 30 across the province to be accepted to the program. Hastings will spend one semester at the school in Toronto.

He says it was a surprise being accepted to the program. Hastings explained he applied because it seemed like a great opportunity, but never expected to get in.

He will be studying physics, chemistry, advanced functions and innovations.

Hastings says he wants to pursue a career in science. He says it’s ultimately something he could use to help people and benefit the world.

Hastings is interested in space technology and engineering. He starts at the Science School on September 4.
