$3.25 million announced for community housing

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is getting dollars for community housing. The province announced $3.25 million for the counties last week.

MPP Steve Clark says the money is to help sustain, grow and repair community housing and help end homelessness. He says the province is putting families first and investing more in housing than any other level of government.

The funding will be broken down as follows: $1,130,410 for Affordable Housing Ontario funding, $1,220,955 for Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative, $811,200 for Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative and $91,231 for the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative.

Clark says the province believes families shouldn’t be living in buildings with crumbling walls, leaking roofs or broken elevators. He says the government wants to work with municipalities, the federal government, non-profit partners and the private sector to make sure homes are maintained, repaired and expanded.
