Seniors’ Centre gets new stove, freezer

Kemptville & District Home Support got a grant for new kitchen equipment. The dollars were used to buy a second stove and new stand-up freezer.

Executive Director Susan Smith says the additions will benefit the Diner’s Club and Meals On Wheels. She says the volunteers are happy about the new appliances.

Diner’s Club is held every Wednesday and offers an opportunity for local seniors to socialize. Meals On Wheels provides hot and frozen meals for clients.

Smith says the money came from the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). She says the $6,482 was also used for upgrades to the telephone and electrical systems.

Smith says the one-time funding is great, but fundraising is still falling short. To make a donation to the seniors’ centre, call 613-258-3203 or drop by 215 Sanders Street.
