The 21st annual Sweetheart Brunch brought in over $19,000 for local charities. The event was held on February 10 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The Sweetheart Brunch, organized by the Knights of Columbus, has raised $220,000 to date.
Grand Knight Todd Fortin says it started out small. He says the Sweetheart Brunch was just a way to thank members of the parish for the first few years, before it grew into a community event.
Donations are handed out to local charities each year.
Fortin says some of the recipients include the Beth Donovan Hospice, Kemptville District Hospital Foundation, Kemptville & District Home Support Inc., Ryan’s Well and Scouts Canada. He says members of the scouts help out with the event annually.
Over 1,100 people attended the Sweetheart Brunch this year.
