The Ferguson Forest Centre (FFC) is reminding snowmobilers to stay on marked trails. An unknown number of seedlings have been damaged by snowmobiles this year.
CEO Ed Patchell says snowmobilers are coming onto FFC lands through Anniversary Park and running over seedlings in fields on the east end. Â
Patchell says the loss to the FFC is substantial. He says the cost of producing the seedlings, losing the sale and letting down clients adds up.
The FFC put up snow fencing to discourage snowmobilers from entering the fields, which got torn down.
Patchell says he’s at the point where if it doesn’t get under control, the FFC will eliminate snowmobiling in the front part of the nursery.
