Podium4Life shines light on mental health

A new charity aims to raise awareness about mental health. Podium4Life was launched by Ashley Hill, owner of Podium Sports Therapy and Wellness Centre, and Zach Benson, owner of 4LifeFitness.

The goal is to hold free educational seminars about mental health. Podium4Life held its first event in Brockville back in December. More events are in the works, with plans to expand into Kemptville and then larger cities down the road.

Hill, athletic therapist, says she noticed a missing piece. She says she wanted to find a way to use the community to raise awareness and help local youth.

The first seminar featured psychologist Walter Marcantoni and a panel of local athletes talking about the importance of mental health.

Hill says she heard a quote once that asked who do you hang out with the most, with the answer being yourself. She says you are constantly in your own head and you have to make sure it’s more positive than negative.

Money to pay for the seminars comes from Podium4Life clothing sales. The apparel is available at Podium Sports Therapy and Wellness Centre.
