Jonsson’s Independent delivers healthy snacks to local kids

Students at Holy Cross Catholic School were treated to apples, bananas and oranges. Jonsson’s Independent delivered the healthy snacks yesterday through its corporate #raiseafoodlover campaign.

Over 400 kids took part in presentations about proper nutrition.

Owner Steve Jonsson says the kids loved it. He says it reinforced what they already learned in school about nutrition.

In addition to fruit, fresh vegetables, hummus, pita bread and milk were handed out. Each student also got a copy of Canada’s Food Guide to take home.

Jonsson says it was a real team effort. He says it was a great day all around.

A total of 16 classes took part in the six sessions, spanning the entire school day. Jonsson says he hopes to offer the program to local students again.
