Caregiver defrauds elderly woman

The OPP say an elderly woman is out $150,000 after falling victim to her caregiver. The investigation launched in May, after officers got reports of the incident.

A 42-year-old Lansdowne woman is facing charges, including theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and false pretences over $5,000.

The OPP says the 95-year-old Lansdowne/Gananoque woman was defrauded of a substantial amount of her life savings and jewellery.

The accused is scheduled to appear at Brockville Court on March 1. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Leeds County OPP by calling 613-345-1790 or 1-888-310-1122
