UPDATE: OPP says package at Prescott post office ‘non-suspicious’

UPDATE: The OPP has determined the package is non-suspicious. It contained Casting Powder, which is not a danger to the public. The post office and area roads and streets are now open to the public. 

ORIGINAL STORY: Grenville County OPP officers are looking into a suspicious package at the Prescott post office. The package was discovered around 12:30pm.

The post office and immediate area, including roads and sidewalks are closed to civilian traffic. The public is being asked to avoid the area at this time.

Members of the Prescott Fire Department, the Leeds and Grenville Paramedic Service and the OPP’s Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosive Team are also on site.

No injuries have been reported at this time. The investigation is currently in progress.
