CNIB Guide Dogs looking for puppy raisers in Kemptville

Kemptville residents are being asked to take in puppies. CNIB Guide Dogs is looking for boarders for service dogs. The organization trains dogs to work with blind and partially sighted individuals.

Manager of Canine Development Karen Hanlon says CNIB is urgently in need of people willing to take in young adult dogs for about four to six months. She says boarders care for the dogs on evenings and weekends only.

CNIB covers all costs, including veterinary care, food, equipment and crate. People who are interested can fill out a form online by clicking here. You will then be invited to an information session, followed by a home visit.

Hanlon says boarders help raise puppies to be healthy, happy, confident and well behaved young adults. She says it prepares the dogs for their formal training.

CNIB works with golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers that range in age from 12 weeks to two years. The organization has about 60 puppies coming in the spring and needs about 15 to 20 dog boarders in the next year. For more information, contact CNIB directly by calling 1-343-997-2498.

CNIB is selling calendars at three locations in Kemptville to bring in dollars for the organization. Calendars are $10 each and can be found at Cranberry Animal Hospital, Love Your Pet and Home & Beyond Gift Shop.
