Local hockey team hoping to score Silver Stick championship

The Rideau St. Lawrence Kings AA has a shot at being named one of the best teams in North America. The Spencerville-Cardinal based team is heading to Michigan to take part in the International Silver Stick tournament. The Kings were crowned regional Silver Stick champs in Pembroke last month.

Kemptville players Julian Luberto, Blake Armitage and Kyle Ferrie say the team has a good chance. The 14-year-olds say they will face off against teams from all over North America, including Las Vegas and Florida.

This will be the second year in a row the Kings take part in Silver Stick. The team lost out in the semi-finals last year.

Ferrie says it’s all thanks to the team’s coaches and manager, who go above and beyond.

The Silver Stick is set for January 24 to 27.
