St. Mike’s Junior Boys’ Volleyball team wins EOSSAA Championship

St. Michael Catholic High School students claimed another Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Championship. The tournament was held at St. Mike’s on Wednesday.

The Junior Boys’s Volleyball team was the wild card after losing to Gananoque at the Leeds and Grenville Secondary School Athletic Association (LGSSAA) Championship last week.

St. Mike’s faced off against Gananoque in the EOSSAA semi-finals, beating them to move onto the finals against Marie-Rivier.

Coach Angus MacDonald says the team was tied at 24, but ended up winning 26-24 in the first set. He says the other team was deflated and St. Mike’s won the second set with a final score of 25-10.

The win marks only the second time in school history that the Junior Boys Volleyball team took home the EOSSAA trophy.

MacDonald says it’s nice to see student athletes come together to accomplish a common goal.

There are 13 students, in grades 9 and 10, on the roster.
