Local church collects 600 pairs of socks for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Southgate Community Church held a sock drive in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville. It ran throughout the month of October and wrapped up yesterday. About 600 pairs of socks were collected – more than the goal put in place for all of North Grenville.

Pastor Matthew Gates says the church has life groups that are constantly looking for new ways to help the community.

This is the second year Southgate has collected socks for BBBS. Over 600 pairs were donated last year. The socks will go to schools throughout the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville to hand out to kids who need them.

Gates says the church does what it can to help out, including providing meals to people in need and partnering with local food banks.
