Yield to flashing green lights reminds fire service

The North Grenville Fire Service is running a Green Light Awareness Campaign. The initiative is part of Fire Prevention Month. Flashing green lights in personal vehicles are used by volunteer firefighters when responding to calls.

Fire Prevention Officer Shannon Armitage says if you see a car or truck with a flashing green light, please be courteous and yield when it’s safe to do so.

The fire service has 40 volunteer firefighters currently. Armitage says pulling over when you see a green light can have a big impact because every second counts in an emergency.

Education is key when it comes to the Green Light Awareness Campaign, says Armitage.
