Only 14.5 per cent of people have voted

The 2018 Municipal Election is almost over. The polls close Monday at 8:00pm. The voting period opened October 15.

Electors can cast their vote online, over the phone or in person. Clerk Cahl Pominville says about 1,800 people, or 14.5 per cent of eligible voters, have cast their ballots as of now.

There are approximately 12,000 registered voters in North Grenville. He says internet and telephone voting are open 24 hours a day until the polls close.

In the 2014 Municipal Election, only 42 per cent of eligible voters turned up at the polls. About 75 per cent people voted electronically.

Pominville says many people are taking advantage of voting online and over the phone. He says if you are ready to make your decision, go ahead and do it online or by calling it in to avoid standing in line.

People are asked to bring their voter information cards and a piece of ID with them to vote in person Monday at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. For more details about the election, click here.
