World-class curling coming to Kemptville

The largest women’s curling event in Canada east of Toronto is coming to town. The Royal LePage Women’s Fall Classic kicks off November 1 at the North Grenville Curling Club. The four-day bonspiel wraps up on November 4, with finals set for 3:00pm.

Organizer Doreen O’Sullivan says there will be teams from Sweden, Switzerland, Northwest Territories, Quebec, PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

A total of 24 teams are taking part and the minimum purse is $21,000. This is the 13th for the Women’s Fall Classic, which started in 2006.

O’Sullivan says there is an international flavour to the event, with teams from the United States, Russia, Japan, Scotland and Great Britain competing in the past.
