Musicians volunteer time to play for long-term patients

The long-term care patients at Kemptville District Hospital get a regular dose of music. A group of four local musicians gets together twice a month to play at the hospital.

The men have been volunteering their time for the past five years. They play for about an hour each time.

The group includes Gary McHale, Bruce Davis, John Casgrain and Bruce Compton.

Casgrain says sometimes the crowd is big and sometimes it’s small because people come and go. The group plays bluegrass and country music.

Casgrain says Davis plays the stand-up base and the other three members play guitar. He says the gig is a win-win because the patients enjoy the music and the group loves playing it.
