The Kemptville & District Sports Hall of Fame (KDSHF) helped out a local man battling cancer. Ryan Forbes was diagnosed with stage four cancer in July and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
The KDSHF donated $500 to Forbes and his family. Committee members presented the cheque during Ambush Benefit Concert in the Park on September 16.
Chair Doug Rigby says dollars are set aside every year for a bursary, but no one applied this year. Forbes is a past inductee into the Hall of Fame. He was a forward for the Kemptville 73’s during the team’s undefeated season in 1996-97.
Dave Peer, owner of Grenville Accounting Services, matched the $500 donation bringing the total up to $1,000.
