Algonquin College-Perth Campus is launching a Business-Agriculture Diploma program come fall 2019. Former Kemptville College staff, teachers and students played a role in its development.
The college will be offering a two-year diploma and certificate program in Business-Agriculture. Program developer Martin Savard says the industry came to them with the need. He says they were told people want to see a program in place because employers are struggling to find students they can hire.
The program focuses on the business side of farming, like whether you should buy or lease a piece of equipment, staffing and production.
Savard says they consulted with dozens of farmers and industry experts, including Kemptville College Alumni. He says the end result is a very exciting program that emphasizes the business skills farmers need in a modern world.
Algonquin College-Perth Campus is hosting an open house on October 29. It will run from 6:00 to 9:00pm. For more details about the program, contact the college directly by calling 613-267-2859.
