National Police Officers’ Memorial Run to stop in Brockville

Police officers are getting ready for a 460 kilometer journey to honour their fallen brothers and sisters. The National Police Officers’ Memorial Run will pass through Grenville County on Friday and Saturday.

OPP Team Leader Sergeant Tammy Bradley says the Peel Regional Police started the run. She says the OPP plays a big role because most of the run passes through OPP detachment areas.

The Memorial Run leaves from Queen’s Park in Toronto on Thursday and ends on Parliament Hill Saturday afternoon.

A total of 250 runners, from various police services, are taking part this year. The runners stop at the courthouse in Brockville at 5:30pm on Friday.

Bradley says the City of Brockville always puts on a great ceremony for the runners.

The Memorial Run also brings in dollars for the families of fallen officers. People can contribute by buying a t-shirt in support of the run either online by clicking here or by calling your local OPP detachment.
