Neon Night raises $100,000 for childhood cancer research

The Neon Night Fun Run crushed its $85,000 goal. The event brought in $100,000 for childhood cancer research. Neon Night was held Saturday at Riverside Park in Kemptville. A total of 950 people took part in the run.

Organizer Brenda Burich says online donations were nearing the 45 per cent mark going into the event.

Neon Night has raised $350,000 for childhood cancer research in the past five years. The event is held in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Burich says the organization is the largest national fundraiser for childhood cancer research. She says the community has taken hold of Neon Night and support continues to grow every year.

Neon Night is a 5 and 2 kilometer non-competitive fun run for all ages and abilities. Next year’s event is set for September 21.
