Sites of Remembrance project underway in North Grenville

A new project to pay tribute to people who served in the military is in the works for North Grenville. The proposal was brought forward by Roy Brown in 2017. It was brought back to Committee of the Whole on Monday night.

The Sites of Remembrance project is a special webpage linked to the municipal website that will feature photos and descriptions of buildings and places in North Grenville with military significance.

Clerk Cahl Pominville says the request was sent to the Heritage Advisory Committee for consideration and support was given.

The proposal lists sites such as Veterans Way, Holy Cross Church, St. James Anglican Church and the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall.

Pominville says the cost of the project is about $2,000 and it will take between two and three days to complete. He says the timeline to upload the Sites of Remembrance is late November or early December.

The project was recommended to council and the final vote is set for Monday.
