Youth are invited to audition for Disney’s Newsies the Musical. The Kemptville Youth Musical Theatre Company (KYMTC) is putting on the production. There is no cost to participate.
Audition applications are being accepted until Thursday at 9:00pm. Youth can apply by clicking here.  Auditions are open to anyone from grade 7 up to 19 years old.
Artistic Director Barb Lacelle says the musical is based on a true story about kids who sold newspapers in New York City in 1899. She says the price of newspapers went up and the money came right out of the kids’ pockets, so they formed a union and decided to strike.
The KYMTC is looking to cast about 40 youth in the production. Lacelle says the youth will learn about singing, dancing, acting, set design, lighting and costumes. Show dates for the production are set for spring 2019.
