Over 600 people signed up for Neon Night Fun Run

The 5th annual Neon Night Fun Run aims to raise $85,000 for childhood cancer research. The event is set for this Saturday at Riverside Park. Over 600 participants have pre-registered for the run. Organizer Brenda Burich says a lot of people sign up for the run the day of and the event is well on its way to celebrating another successful year.

Over 850 people took part in the run last year. Early bird registration is $40 per person until Friday at 12:00 noon. Kids 15 and under are $10 and the family rate is set at $90.

The Neon Night pre-party starts at 5:30pm, followed by opening ceremonies at 7:00pm. The 2 and 5 kilometer fun runs, open to all ages and abilities, kicks off at 7:30pm.

Burich says there will be superheroes, Star Wars characters, face painting and sumo wrestling during the pre-party. Childhood cancer warriors will be knighted by olympians and olympic hopefuls before the run.
