Rainfall ‘well below’ historical average for Kemptville Creek

The Kemptville Creek is still sitting at moderate low water status. The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) confirmed today that the status remains in place. The rest of the Rideau River watershed is currently at minor low water status.

The RVCA says flow in the Kemptville Creek continues to be very low and the amount of rain measured is well below the historical average.

Aquatic creatures living in the creek are being confined to smaller pools that are getting warmer and becoming short of oxygen.

The average rainfall amount for the Rideau River watershed is below the 80 per cent threshold of normal. The RVCA is advising all residents within the watershed to conserve water.
