100 Men Who Care North Grenville donates $5,170 to Handyman Heroes

The House of Lazarus (HOL) got a financial boost from 100 Men Who Care North Grenville. The local group donated over $5,000 to the HOL on Wednesday.

The money will go towards the Handyman Heroes project, which connects people in the trades with those in need. Executive Director Cathy Ashby says contractors and mechanics have offered their services for free to fix vehicles that are not safe to drive and repair homes.

A single mom with four kids will benefit from the program this fall thanks to a local contractor who has offered to fix her leaky roof. Ashby says another family got a full brake job and two new tires for just the cost of parts.

Any contractors or mechanics interested in helping out with Handyman Heroes project can contact the HOL directly by calling (613)-989-3830.

Ashby says the organization is grateful to all the North Grenville men who contributed to the donation. She says without the generosity of the community, the HOL wouldn’t be able to deliver essential services to people living in poverty.

The next meeting of 100 Men Who Care North Grenville is set for Wednesday at the Royal Canadian Legion in Kemptville. The event kicks off at 7:00pm and is open to anyone in the community. For more details about 100 Men Who Care, check them out on Facebook.
