Fill-the-Bus stops in Kemptville next week

The fourth annual Fill-the-Bus fundraiser is coming to town. The event brings in food items and monetary donations for the House of Lazarus (HOL) Food Bank. School buses will be parked outside Walmart and Jonsson’s Independent from 10:00am to 2:00pm on August 24. Client Services Coordinator Kim Merkley says the food bank shelves are looking empty.

Last year’s event brought in 1,400 pounds of food and $1,630 for the food bank, which serves over 100 local families each month. Fill-the-Bus is sponsored by Lannin Bus Line and Wubs Transit, who provide the buses for free and volunteer drivers. Coldwell Banker is also sponsoring the event. Merkley says the food bank relies on the community.

The HOL will also be collecting school supplies for food bank clients during Fill-the-Bus. The food bank serves people from North Grenville, South Grenville, North Dundas and South Dundas. For more information about the HOL, click here.
