WDMH patient care gets boost from individuals, groups

People are coming together to raise money for patient care at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH). Donations have been flowing in over the past few months from groups and individuals.

The 100 Women Who Care North Dundas group gave $2,000 to the WDMH Foundation’s general equipment fund. The money will go towards essential equipment, such as a new wireless fetal monitor.

Hulse, Playfair & McGarry in Winchester hosted a BBQ in support of the WDMH Foundation. The event brought in nearly $900, which was topped up to $1,000 by the business. Those dollars also went towards new equipment.

Kelly Runions Kennedy works at WDMH and is also a Thirty-One Independent Consultant. During National Nursing Week, Kennedy donated her commission from an on-site sale totalling $1,027. The money went to the Spring Matching Gift program. Kennedy says she plans on making it an annual fundraiser.

The Provincial Grand Black Chapter of Eastern Ontario has donated $1,000 toward WDMH’s Dialysis Unit. The money was raised through its Dimes for Dialysis program. In 18 years, the organization has raised over $36,000 for dialysis units in Ontario East.

WDMH Foundation Managing Director Kristen Casselman says the community does amazing things to support health care.
