Beans, lettuce up for grabs at the Giving Garden

The Giving Garden is well underway. There are currently beans and lettuce ripe for the picking. Tomatoes are expected to be ready in a couple weeks. Potatoes will be good to go in September. The Giving Garden has been producing vegetables and flowers for the North Grenville community for about a decade. Volunteer Vic Desroches says people are welcome to take what they need.

The Giving Garden has many community partners, including St. Michael Catholic High School. Students plant one of the plots every June. Desroches says the garden is doing very well this year.

The Giving Garden, located within the Ferguson Forest Centre off County Road 43, is entirely volunteer run. Each Tuesday morning, volunteers gather to weed and maintain the garden. Whatever produce is not picked by community members is taken to the Kemptville Salvation Army Food Bank. For more information about the Giving Garden or to volunteer, click here.
