Zoning amendment passes after staff says residents given proper notice

A zoning amendment for phase four of the eQuinelle development has passed despite concerns raised by a Settlers’ Grant resident. Brett Robertson went before Council last week to voice concerns about not getting proper notice for the public meeting. Director of Planning and Development Phil Gerrard says notice was given.

The matter was brought back to a special Committee of the Whole meeting held Monday night. The final decision took place later in the evening, during the regularly scheduled council meeting. Gerrard says residents were not deprived of their rights.

The zoning amendment is for a 7.6 hectare parcel of land, which will include 87 single detached houses and 12 townhouses. The change in zoning for the lands is from rural-residential to residential third density.
