The Municipality of North Grenville is looking at some cost-savings for Internet services at Kemptville College. A report outlining the potential savings was brought to council Monday night. Staff explained as a lower tier municipality in Leeds and Grenville, North Grenville is eligible to take advantage of a price negotiated through the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN). Clerk Cahl Pominville says the municipality is able to save.
With the acquisition of the college by the municipality, the Educational Hub on campus is also eligible for the reduced rate. The contract being discussed is five-years, at a rate of $585 per month for the campus. Pominville says the contract is a good fit.
Since switching to the negotiated price, the municipality has saved $5,000 per year since 2016. The Internet Services will be paid for through rental revenues on campus.
