Mini-galleries in the works for Kemptville College artifacts

The Municipality of North Grenville will display Kemptville College memorabilia in public spaces. Staff are working on a series of mini-galleries to showcase photos, trophies and other items from the college’s past. The displays will be set up in different locations around the campus. North Grenville CAO Brian Carré says some artifacts may be surplus.

The cost of replication would fall on the Kemptville College Alumni Association. Ownership of the memorabilia was determined by the Agricultural Institute of Ontario (ARIO). The municipality bought the college for $7.7 million back December and the artifacts were included in the sale. Carré says the municipality is willing to work with the Alumni.

Staff have catalogued about 95 per cent of the artifacts. Once the archiving is complete, work will begin on the mini-galleries that people can view at no cost. Staff will use the book A College with a Purpose by Phyllis Dutchak as the thread for the galleries.
