Barbecue auction brings in money for local kids to play sports

The Kemptville Canadian Tire is auctioning off a barbecue in support of Jumpstart. The auction kicked off on May 26 and bidding ends June 30. The highest bid is around $300. Owner Frank Hoffman says about $8,000 has been raised for Jumpstart so far.

The barbecue, on display in the Canadian Tire entrance way, is valued at about $800. The local chapter of Jumpstart supported 136 kids who wanted to participate in sports last year. Hoffman says the force behind Jumpstart is coordinator Claire Larabie.

Kids from North Grenville and surrounding area who want to play sports are encouraged to reach out for financial support. People can donate to Jumpstart at Canadian Tire or online. For more information, click here.
