Local artist Aleta Karstad wins Robert Bateman Award

A North Grenville resident has won the Robert Bateman Award from the Canadian Wildlife Federation. Local artist and author Aleta Karstad is being recognized for her conservation efforts through art. She says winning the award was a surprise.

Karstad is the resident artist with BioNB in Fredricton and is currently organizing an artists retreat to the Dumoine River in Quebec. Each artist who attends will donate one painting to help raise funds for nature conservation. Karstad says the award recognizes her life’s work.

In addition to being a celebrated artist, Karstad penned the bestseller titled ‘Canadian Nature Notebook.’ Karstad will be travelling to Regina on June 16 to accept the award. For more information about the Robert Bateman Award, click here.
