Special Olympians, local students take part in Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run made a stop in Merrickville. The event was held at Merrickville Public School today. Students, Special Olympians, members of Community Living North Grenville and law enforcement representatives came together to raise money and awareness. Zone Coordinator Bill Dickson says the Special Olympics has grown.

The Special Olympics is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The Torch Run brings in over $1 million across the province each year. Dickson says every dollar counts.

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run brought in $1.7 million last year. Participants in today’s event ran through Merrickville collecting donations for the Special Olympics. For more information or to donate, click here.
