The St. Michael Catholic High School girls varsity soccer team is heading to the provincial championships. The team took home silver medals from the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) finals yesterday. The second place finish landed them a spot at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) finals next week. Coach Lidia Lefebvre says the girls fought hard for the win.
The team has 19 students, ranging from grade nine to 12. St. Mike’s lost out to École secondaire catholique La Citadelle in overtime. Lefebvre says the girls beat the odds.
The OFSAA finals are set for next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
